Hey Guys!

Again, I have failed to regularly update thy blog.

But so much has happened! I'm currently in the midst of finishing up a game with my Well Placed Cactus team buddies for a client. I won't be able to discuss anything on it up until its ready on the App Store. Another iPhone game coming soooon!

But in regards to my work with Walk Thru Walls fellas Liam and Rob, I'm super excited to be working on the environmental art for their sequel game, Metal Dead Encore.

If you haven't played the first one, for shame! But you should definitely play it:

And even more good news! Metal Dead is now on Steam Greenlight!
We need your support to get it selling on Steam, do it for the little guys!

Once I get a little free space (hah, like that will happen), I'll be posting up a bit more art...if I get permission.

If anyone reads this, come back soon.

A Long Time Between Drinks

My overdue apologies for not doing regular blog posts,
Since my fellow uni friends and I went on to create our indie game company Well Placed Cactus, its been a busy few months doing art for multiple projects.

So to update:
In terms of working with James Coote and his game Star Syndicate, I completed what I was required to do and I believe a beta will be released for android phones very soon. I certainly hope to link the game here in the near future.

After that I went on to do some light work on an interactive education game, which is all I can say about it right now until it nears its release date. It was already 80-90% complete, and it just needs polish on UI elements.

Whilst doing that, this past month I have been creating all the art for Well Placed Cactus's first iPhone game, which will go by the name of Camel Rush. After a fairly hectic few weeks it has finally been submitted and is awaiting the apple sign of approval.

In celebration of our upcoming game Camel Rush, I will be showing bits and pieces of the progress to the final game's look. At the beginning we did have a little trouble locking down a theme, which admittedly made time management more hectic.
However we hope to have learnt from our lesson and apply this to our next project, which is starting really soon.

Here's the flood of work from the beginning to end:

Quick Update: 31/03/2012

So Star Syndicate is coming along quite nicely now, and I'm slowly adding more UI art.
Last week I was working on a map icon and discussing with James what the best combination would create the best design:

This weekend I'm working on improving Planet sprites used within the game's map, and other bits a bobs.
The Final Banknote from my last post has also been done:

Iridium:Star Syndicate

As the title says, that has been the chosen name for this game project by James Coote. It began as Project Iridium for a while, but it's nice to have a neat space-esque title now.

This past week I had been working with James in developing a banknote design, which will go well in the game as we try to portray a currency system within the universe.

The final colour combination is still being deliberated, but here are the 10 concepts and the original monochrome design with colour palette:
