Work In Progress: CGI Environment

So one of my other uni assignments is to create a environment using Autodesk Maya 2010. My scene is going to be a lantern festival set in an old asian village on a riverbank very similar to Xitang, Zhejiang Province, China.

I'm not a great at modelling, so this assignment will be a good challenge, and since its still apart my games design course, I'll show you my progress with it, along with the last few weeks work of Bullet before my team and I are content with it.

Starting off with the small stuff first, and after the rough scene has been made, I'll begin to refine.

Week 12, one dozen.

Here is the week's pretties.
I haven't been doing any matte paintings recently due to other uni assignments being a priority, since next week is meant to be the final week on my personal work timeline, and my assignments are due two weeks after, if i find time to get more paintings done, they will be posted in a couple of weeks.
in the meantime, stay tuned to see how the game 'Bullet' progresses. Nic and Tyson's blogs are currently showing our work in progress.

Week 12:
-Character #5 turnaround: male
-C.o.W: 20 robot silhouettes
-Vehicle #8: 'wings'

Bullets become pretty, Nazi's take on graffiti and are more sensitive to bacteria

Why you ask? Because some good has come out of my seasonal flu. That is why. My next character design has been created with a few keywords in mind to build features to him.
Meanwhile Bullet is looking better every day, with assets for the Temple and Aquarium level completed, and placeholder levels done for both. The pixel generator Tyson had made shows a great example of how the assets destruct, and its easy to use while i was creating each one so i could see if they were looking alright and if adjustment was necessary.

Should probably do a couple a screen shots soon. come back at the end of the week ^_^

Week 11 of personal work, assets, and sick

I wasn't able to do a matte painting this week, which was meant to be a future and past crossbreed. I've also become sick, so I will probably have to pick up my work in a couple of days.
Also I've designed and created the assets for the temple level of Bullet, and I'll be creating the assets for the aquarium level next week.

This week's personal work:
-Character #4: turnaround
-Vehicle #7: 'war bred'
-C.o.W: 10 gun designs in 5hrs (used Alchemy)

Week 10 Personal Work

I'm kind of on call for both the Bullet team and Horse team, as tweaking of code for both games results in a pause to art. I have very rough sketches of the Hammer Time game mode is horse, however a final are direction from Henrik and Delia will be presented soon, whilst all assets for the protoype of Bullet have been implemented into the game (^_^).

Here's the week's concept outcomes:
Character Design #4: female
Vehicle #6: 'Underwater'
Matte #6: 'Space theme'
20 coloured enemy boss variations

Week 9 Work

Another week down. Except this one contains a failed piece. The matte painting this week was 'fantasy', however all the effort and trying to get it right didn't work this time. The idea was to have turtles and tortoises roaming around with a colony growing on their back, while there are flying seahorses are a type of transport. So the stuff that's wrong is that the animals don't seem to fit into the scene very well, the tortoise and turtle are do not seem big (they are meant to be enormous), whilst the water seems a little out of perspective and the colour correction still seems a bit off.

So perhaps i may pick it up later in life and be able to fix it, but right now it's going to sit in its own filth and ponder on why it turned out retarded.

Meanwhile (in a land not so far away), in the upcoming weeks i'll be helping out my Tyson and Nic in completing the art for our Bullet game, and i will also be assisting Henrik and Delia in creating more backgrounds for their game Horse.

To sum it up, here's my dump:
Week9 recap:
Character turnaround: creature
C.o.W: 30 coloured clothing varieties (cyberwear)
Vehicle#5: 'ride' (alot of good reactions this week)
Matte Painting#5: 'fantasy'
